I put this one on my list after reading A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, and unfortunately, I am disappointed. With AGGGTM, there were a few parts that were far fetched, but the character development was enough that I could suspend disbelief. The premise of Five Survive was so outrageous, and becomes even more outrageous when we consider that these are high school students. I had a conversation recently about how crazy Gossip Girl was, not because of the things that happen, but the fact that the main characters are in high school, and this feels an awful lot like that. After this story, I don’t know if I will give Holly another chance.

Scared white men are as dangerous as a cornered animal. I don't understand why out of six people only one person got to make all the decisions. All of which were horrible. Is it bad I wasn't upset when he died?

THAT’S WHERE IT ENDS???
Youve got to be shitting me.
I LOVEDDDD THIS BOOK It was way out of my comfort zone but dammit i love it I think It was slow at first but the last I don’t know like 20 percent were nerve wracking, I havent hated a character so much since Adam from shatter me but damn Oliver thank god you were killed.
And arthur and red i needed the happy ending what the hell that letter destroy meeeee I meed to know if red went or not. For a minute I though she was dead and some tears slipped out.
Amazing book I loved it so much.

I was sobbing with that ending, it was a very good book, I loved every second of it.
(I'm debating into 4 or 5 stars)

[re-read] 4.5 ⭐, even better the second time around

Holly Jackson has a knack for writing complex, riveting female MCs and Red was no different. I loved her unreliability, the hints at her ADHD, her loyalty, & witnessing her finding her courage. She has a great arc in this mystery, which did not disappoint either. Holly Jackson has become an automatic read for me and this book confirms that's a good decision
