If you are looking for drama or conflict, this is NOT the manga for you. If you want a sweet, light romance where the female MC’s entire being & life centers on the male MC, dive right in.

I continue to enjoy this manga for the sparks that are flying between Yuki and Itsuomi. There is not anything going on other than readers getting to know the two MCs and their friends while Yuki and Itsuomi poke their toes out a possible romantic interest.

But, Itsuomi’s random touching of Yuki is really gnawing at me! When Itsuomi patted Yuki’s head again in this volume (see my comments on volumes one and two), I had to think it may be a translation and/or language issue. And, sure enough, in the translation notes for this volume, I read: “Japanese Sigh Language, spoke Japanese, spoken English, and American Sign Language are all different languages, so the written transcriptions of signs in this book are translations of translations.” So, I can hope (??) that, in Japan, patting a hearing-impaired person on the head truly means they are cute. But it just seems like those pats are crossing a boundary—especially in such a new relationship. I was encouraged to see Yuki actually tell Itsuomi she does not like being tickled on her stomach. Thank goodness the girl found some confidence to stand up for herself.

While I find relief in and am refreshed by how airy and conflict-free this manga is, there needs to be something to make me keep reading. How many volumes can I read about two characters making googly-eyes at each other? Well, I have two volumes left of the first five I have checked out from my public library. So at least two more!
