Wow- brilliant writing; graphics that made me pause and re-read or actually cringe. Very good, despite the horror.

it is possible that from the beginning, severian already had some presentiment of his future.

Very visually gruesome and has some really cool themes about the permeation of violence across time. Very cool!!

An interesting mixture of a deep-dive into factual events and fiction to tell a story of one of the most prolific serial killers.

Worth a read both if true and fictional crime interest you.

It was a very dark book. Though the book was based on Jack the Ripper, it seemed to mostly be about the people and their difficult lives and of the everyday struggles.
Also, I think it tried to demonstrate how one’s misery becomes entertainment for the other people, how they love to gossip, whisper, invent and fantasize about these gruesome murders.
As Alan Moore mentioned, we created these innumerable tales and fancy conspiracies around this one person, who probably didn't even exist, at least not in any way, like everyone thought of him to exist.
I’m really astonished by the great graphics and as always, great stories delivered by Alan Moore.
Watchmen, of course, is still my favorite.

This is a massive book. Physically, I mean. I've held smaller phone books. The scope of the research that went into making it is astounding. I enjoyed reading Appendix I as much or more than the actual story, because Alan Moore came prepared with receipts and citations for everything that actually happened in this crazy story. And as for what he made up, he says "Yeah I made that up because it sounded good." But half the insane stuff... is real.

This recounts the Jack the Ripper murders, with a supposition that Her Majesty's Surgeon, one Sir William Gull, committed the crimes in service to the crown and the Freemasons, and in service to himself. It is difficult to read as there are buckets and buckets of gore, sexism, sex, and to be honest most of the people in the story are not very likeable. I don't know if I will ever read this again. But it was worth the reading.

At least when Thomas Pynchon was being paranoid as all get-out, he was also being funny.
