This is a thrilling chic flic about rich people at an elite boarding school. Catchy and has a addictive plot. Not like your regular boring "lets read about posh rich kids". A must read for teen girls.

I'm a little curious to find out where the story is going and if there's an actual point, but not enough to continue reading the book. It's boring. Basically nothing happens within the first 60 pages or so. Reed is dull and pathetic and just not very likable. Her little silent quips got annoying and they were usually awkward. And seriously, what's her fascination with the Billings girls? I get that it's meant to drive her actions, but I have no idea why she's drawn to them. She was on campus for all of about an hour before she decides that she just had to get in good with them. She didn't know who they were or what it even meant to be a Billings girl.
I didn't get most of her reactions and thoughts actually. At one point, she was completely distracted from a conversation - to the point of almost forgetting she was even talking to anyone- because people opened a door and walked by. I could just picture her seeing a lamp and thinking, 'ooh, shiny!' and being totally enthralled for a good long time. It's not remotely believable that this girl was a straight A student at her last school. It's barely believable that she'd ever even been introduced to the world of people. Her awkward fascinations and reactions make her seem like she's been living in seclusion, or at least had never been around kids her own age.
And the fixation on what everyone is wearing and all the expensive brands (and other markers of people with money) mentioned again and again was irritating. We get it, everyone at your new school is really rich and dresses nicely. We don't need to be reminded over and over and over again.
Nope, I don't care anywhere near enough to even attempt to read any more.

I liked it a lot more than I thought I would but I am really excited to read this book!!

I wasn't sure what to rate this book, but considering that I finished it and am intrigued enough to read the next one, I figure it deserves 3 stars.

Is it an example of great writing? No. Is it filled with flawless narration? No. Is the main character someone all teenage girls should look up to? No.

But, it held my interest, I finished it, and it wasn't the worst book I ever read. I like the main character. She does some scummy things for a shot at popularity, and I like that. She admits there isn't much she's above for the sake of succeeding in the school. And, I like that. I like that she's flawed.

It's not the most compelling thing I ever read and I probably won't ever recommend it to anyone, but I hardly think it deserves the one star reviews it's been getting.

This book kept me intrigued and every day when I got the chance to read, it was as if I was right there at Easton Academy watching the drama unfold.

I absolutely LOVE this series! I read books 1-5 in high school. I wasn't able to finish the 15 book series because I rented them from my high school library and they only had the first 5 books. So I'm excited to read the entire series because it is drama, drama, drama. And it's not my own personal drama..that's the best kind, right? If you are a Pretty Little Liars fan, this book series is for you. There are so many secrets to be unfolded.

For starters let me say I love this series 😭 not this first book as much because all Reed does is whine and complain and grovel and it’s really annoying 🙄

This story follows a girl named Reed Brennan who is from a town in PA , she gets accepted into this boarding school she has been wanting to go to called Easton Academy. She moves in and everything is wonderful. On the first day she meets this boy named Thomas Pearson and falls head over heels for him 🙄 a couple days later she meets the popular girl Billing Girls and does everything to be in their crowd.

The Billing Girls reminds me of Blair from Gossip Girl with how they made Reed do things for the fun of it. Make her run their errands, steal tests , just being catty for no reason. Reed reminded me of Jenny from Gossip Girl as well with how much she wanted to be accepted into this group.

This book has your cliche new girl wants to be friends with the popular girls and gets with the popular boy but it was still enjoyable. I will continue on with my reread of this series.

I don't know why, but I love a boarding school setting, and this one came with lots of delicious drama. Reed was looking to escape her mother and her life at home, and did so by winning a scholarship to Easton Academy. As expected, she was constantly swimming upstream. She was looking for a way to fit in at the academy, and set her sights on becoming one of the Billings girls. This had all the things you expect from a crew of rich and privileged kids, and I am definitely looking forward to the next book.

This was the last time I read a book by Kate Brian. Reed was an idiot. I understand that she is going to change as a character later on the series (I hope) but she annoyed me so much in this book. She needed to fit in so badly. She needed to get a grip. So frustrating!
And her and Thomas? I felt nothing for them together. Reed makes no sense to me. She needed at least some character development but she kept on going back to the mean girls.

I thought that Private was an interesting book. I'm not sure how to describe it really. There were one or two things that annoyed me a little about the book but then there were some parts I really enjoyed.

I think my favourite character was Taylor. None of the others really stood out at all to me.

I liked the storyline as a whole and I loved the ending line.

I really did not like Thomas. But I did like the ending as it was kind of a cliffhanger a little bit and it makes me want to pick up the next book because I really would like to know where the rest of the series leads.

Overall, Private is an interesting novel. I didn't overly love it and I didn't really hate it either. It was entertaining enough not to bore me.

Read this a few years ago . . . Didn't really like it too much. I'm not really that into clique novels, come to find out. But if you like drama, here's the book for you.
