My heart is broken and full all at the same time.

For the first two books in this series, my reviews centred on how extraordinary Elle Kennedy is at writing hard-hitting topics and weaving them into such romantic storylines. Frankly, I had no idea how extraordinary she was until I read The Score.

This book has torn me apart. I sobbed. Do not expect an easy read, because, I promise you, it isn’t one but, my word, is it beautiful.

Allie and Dean’s relationship is joyous, playful and fun and just wonderful to observe but, more than anything, the individual journeys that they (particularly Dean) take are beautiful. Dean experiences some real hardship in this story. His character is tested and he has to make some difficult choices in heartbreaking circumstances. The Score is not for the faint of heart but it will make you grateful for today.

’Me: Decided it was time to live the Life of Dean.
Him: Took you long enough.’

I feel like this book had a lot of different things in it that the other has…such as a cliffhanger for the next couple. I do wish that the ending was a bit more romantic like the other two but I’m intrigued about the next book so I am down.

This one actually got me emotional towards the end, I got my emotions played with.
I really love this couple though. I do however feel like their relationship was mainly focused on sex for a long time but I was happy when they finally got their romance.
But I would like to say here and now. I love Dean. The playboy with a heart of gold. His relationship with little Dakota was absolutely adorable.

Again, this series has a very minimal plot. I feel like it’s based more on the relationships and character development which I enjoy so I’m happy. I feel like this series is a fun read all around and gives all the fluffy feels with a little bit of stomping on your heart, ya know?

Happy reading 🤍

Both the storyline and characters were kind of flat and there was barely any development.

I genuinely couldn’t figure out the plot besides them wanting to bone every few scenes. There were so many areas of the story that could be developed to make it have more depth (Allie believing in love despite everything with Sean, Dean’s party boy image when in reality he’s actually more than that, their differences when it comes to love) but for some reason, the author mainly focused on their physical relationship, which got annoying about quarter of the way through, not gonna lie.

I thought it was over when they finally got together as a couple but Beau’s death at the end felt so random. I get that the story is part of a series and it might further develop in the next book but it was so rushed and unnecessary in this one.

Had high hopes for this story since I was pleasantly surprised by the first book, but this one was sadly not it

“Seriously, just find yourself a rebound.” Dean whips up his arm. “I volunteer as tribute."

I love love love Dean and Allie together! I totally did not expect the third book to be about Dean AND Allie! I thought another unnamed character would be Dean's love interest but it's Hannah's best friend! I would not have thought of that one at all! But I guess it got to be someone like Allie who could make Dean monogamous! She's his Renesmee (*wink wink*). OMG! The bathroom scene!!!! I can't! I laughed so hard during that chapter!!!! It's been a long time since I've lol-ed irl so it's definitely a plus points.

Story-wise, it's a good read. I wasn't bored and to be honest, I listened to this in one day. So that means I was really into it. I was just sad to see how Dean handles grief because everybody's been there and yes, I can see why Allie would be like that and I'm not blaming anyone. I was just happy to see them both back together because they are definitely soulmates.

Plus points for Allie's narrator because it's waaaaay better than the previous girl narrator.
