Essential reading for any mycophile. Paul Stamets is a friggin treasure.
Lots of detail in here. Would be nice to see an updated version as I’m sure there have been so many advances in mycological research in the past 15 years.

It is great to see an ex-logger turn fungi expert. Early in his life, Paul had nothing to do with mushrooms, but that quickly changed after he almost became a victim of their influence.

Surprisingly interesting and fun book about mushrooms. Helping to save the world might be a little overblown. It does cover plenty of beneficial and tasty aspects of mushrooms, plus some numerous areas where there has been some research and potential may be lurking (medical, bioremediation, crop yields, etc). After a couple dreamy and somewhat dubious proclamations in the opening chapters it settles down to facts, published research and empirical projects.

easy read, very interesting concepts of the power of Mycelium
Anyone would find this book fascinating. Mycelium is the brain of the planet or what Stamets would call "earth's natural internet." Mycelial networks all over the planet are constantly breaking down organic matter and transporting nutrients to planet life across huge areas. A single inch of soil can contain over eight miles of mycelial cells. This organism is too weird to be real and yet it is literally responsible for life on land as we know it. Big, brain-breaking stuff.
