If you read Sager's Final Girls and was wildly disappointed like I was, this is the perfect balm. The plot moves, the characters are dynamic and sympathetic, and the story is wonderfully steeped in horror tropes. It plays with the genre and critiques it while also maintaining a wonderful respect for it.

wow this was a wild ride!! it was more brutal/gruesome/gory/disturbing than i expected! it’s my first horror read and i had a blast! if you like classic slasher movies you’d definitely enjoy this one!

I imagine there are tons of Easter Eggs for slasher film fans. As a general movie fan I loved a lot of the winks and nods to the big horror franchises, and I enjoyed this much more than TSBCGTSV.
