HELL SQUAD has become one of my favorite series to read and I was so happy to be back with all these characters. Anna Hackett knows how to deliver an action packed, sexy romance and GRIFF is no exception. The surviving humans at the Enclave are still working to defeat the Gizzida aliens by discovering and destroying their new mystery weapon. I really liked that this included some more of the post-apocalyptic human element through a small settlement of survivors that the team encounters. This really added a new depth to the world building that Hackett has done so far.

I've been intrigued by Griff from early on because all we really knew about him was that he was a cop and an ex-con. Intriguing! Because of his past experience, Griff has a lot of anger and rage that he works through by killing aliens. He's also still dealing with the pain of being betrayed by someone he trusted and this resonates in Griff's thoughts and actions. Griff has known Indy for many years; before she was just his friend's annoying little sister, but as she grew up he found himself attracted to her. He's ready to go all in with Indy if only he can convince her to give him a chance. At the same time, Griff has secrets about how he ended up in prison and he's not sure his relationship with Indy can survive those secrets coming out.

Indy was wonderfully wild and opinionated and not afraid to live life. As a young woman she made a pass at her older brother's best friend but Griff turned her down. I really appreciated that Indy didn't wallow in this rejection and instead went out there and lived her best life. I loved Indy's personality and her inner fire; she doesn't worry about regrets and instead just lives her life and keeps going. She makes Griff work for her attention and I just loved her!

It definitely feels like this series is winding down and I'm both excited to see what happens but also sad to see the end.

“I’ve loved you like a sister, as a friend, but now what I’m talking about is loving you as a woman,” he said. “Loving you in every way possible.”

Loveloveloved it!

Oh Indy and Griff’s story was rough. So much history and pain to overcome, on both sides, that the obstacles almost seemed impossible to overcome. But they do, and the story was amazing. Sexy and fast paced, continuing the overall storyline in a way that was satisfying but still leaving me wanting. Can’t wait fir Dom and Arden’s story, though I’m DYING for Thane and Selena’s!

Given there's quite a bit of build up to this pairing, it felt a little bit underwhelming when Griff and Indy finally got together. Still fun and still enjoying the world as ever.

The gruff soldier and the tattooed comms officer, with plenty of history. It starts off with him determining to have her, and her holding him off. He's carrying a lot of angst and can be an asshole but I liked how she doesn't let him push her around even if she's in love with him. They get hot and steamy fairly quickly, but the actual process of trusting and opening up takes time. Loved that *she* saved his ass!
