Part two of this series maintains the pace, the intrigue, and surprises of the first. I was happy to find that there were still more revelations for the magic of this world as the series continued, and one again Tasha Suri has succeeded at taking us in directions I couldn’t have predicted.

I can’t wait for the third installment to come out later this year, and highly recommend this series to anyone who likes fantasy, wants to explore non-western world building, and those who enjoy a good knife to the heart.

Sincerely, really, truly, I don’t think I’ve read a book that made me feel so fucking gagged that I felt sick. Tasha Suri, let it be known, right now, you have made me SICK, I am DYING OF ANTICIPATION AND HEARTBREAK, HOW DARE YOU.
I will say, this book did drag on a bit for me, I think it was partly because of how busy I got and wanting the book to just kick up, but, since it’s summer, and I have the time, I was able to pick the book back up and finish it, and THANK GOD I DID BECAUSE OH MY LORD DID IT KICK UP THE ACTION.

Ohhhhhhh how I love the women in this book, the religion and war is a lot but I love these characters and the size and detail of the world is amazing — sometimes it was slow
