Back at my parents’ I own the actual series of Peter Rabbit books. But for my little one, purchased as last year’s Easter gift when he wasn’t even two months old, this is a good abridged version of the story. He likes the pictures and it’s still reminiscent of the full tale.

I honestly can't remember if I read this as I child, but now I'm so glad that I for sure read it as an adult!  Beatrix Potter's story and illustrations go so well together, and this is a delightful little romp, even with how didactic it is.  It's tiny, and cute, and perfect for small hands!  This story evokes such nostalgia despite not remember whether I read it or not, but hey, all kids love Peter Rabbit regardless, right?  This was just the break I needed from all the overbearing texts I've been reading lately.

"Peter gave himself up for lost, and shed big tears; but his sobs were overheard by some friendly sparrows, who flew to him in great excitement, and implored him to exert himself."

What's not to love?
