This might be the only story where I actually enjoyed the movie far more than the book. It could be that I’m biased because I grew up watching the movie, but it feels more concise and poignant. The book felt a bit longer than it needed to be. I did appreciate some of the glimpses into the old, small town southern life like the articles from Dot interspersed throughout. Overall it wasn’t bad, but it did make me just want to watch the movie again.
amazing! i loved it. I had previously seen the movie and really liked it so i thought i would try the book. I think the book was even better, and still enjoyable even though i had seen the movie

L'ho appena finito e già provo una forte nostalgia. Mi manca Whistle Stop, mi manca la signora Threadgoode, mi mancano Ruth e Idgie.
Rimandavo la lettura di questo libro, perché non ero sicura mi sarebbe piaciuto; non essendo né thriller, né d'avventura o azione, pensavo mi avrebbe annoiato. È stato l'esatto opposto.
Forse sono riuscita a finirlo velocemente anche grazie alla lunghezza dei capitoli, che, essendo tanto corti, ti invogliano a leggerne sempre di più.
No davvero, a parte questo, "pomodori verdi fritti" è un vero spasso. Scritto bene, scorrevole, divertente, a volte leggero e altre volte più profondo e che tratta di temi importanti!

3.5 rounded up. Being that the movie is one of my all-time favorites, I expected to enjoy the book more than I did. The timeline jumped around quite a bit. So much, that had I not seen the movie, I would’ve been very lost. I did enjoy hearing more details about some of the supporting characters, however. Great story, great characters, I just would have liked the timeline to have been a little more linear.
