I loved that Shira was able to do her own thing and accomplish her goals while growing in a realistic way.

Coming from this author's Empath Found trilogy, I had higher expectations for this duet than I had for the trilogy. I had read reviews that this duet was written better and had a better story line than the trilogy so I was super excited. Unfortunately, I don't think this is better than the Empath Found trilogy. In fact, I had the same problem with this duet as I did with the earlier trilogy. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, I just think that like the Empath Found trilogy, this was just middle of the road.

Spoiler I really liked where they took this first book in the duet. Shira has been held captive in some form or another since she was 8. When she is finally rescued by her mates, they are so intent on protecting her that they don't realize that all they are doing is just imprisoning her again. The dragon traditions are very misogynistic and I love that Shira is this badass character who wants revenge on the dragons who killed her family and isn't going to take no for an answer. She escapes her mates and starts this journey to not only exact her revenge, but to also find out who she is without captivity. My biggest issue with this duet is the same issue I had with the earlier trilogy in this world. I felt as though we just didn't get enough. While Shira ends up getting her revenge on the dragons who killed her family, I felt like not only was it anticlimactic, but I also don't really know how we got there. It's hard to explain, but it felt like we had this whole book where nothing and everything happened simultaneously.

Overall I think that if you liked the Empath Found trilogy enough to finish the whole thing, I think you will enjoy this duet.

Quite liked it, but so far nothing too special. The main character is well written - I liked how she adapted, or was forced to adapt, to her new environment and mates. Very grateful she pursued her own desires though instead of surrendering.

I'm interested to see how the mates redeem themselves.

The sexy (and sexist jerks!) dragons, fated mates, reverse harem, revenge tale I didn't know I wanted. Ends on a cliffhanger, I downloaded the second book immediately. Time for the grovel and smashing the dragon patriarchy, plz!

Well. that was something. Did I like it, ya. Overall the story was lacking for me but I like the charters. I do wish there was a little more spice but hay that ok. I will say that I went into this story thinking it was going to be spicy and it was not so if you're like me, I'm letting you know beforehand that the spice was lacking. Again the charters I really like and there is a second book that I will be 100% be reading. You may ask yourself why the answer is because I want to know what happens. Till next time!
