I read the first book in this series and became obsessed, I loved the characters, the dialogue was hilarious and the spice was chefs kiss. The world and magic system was amazing and if it had continued in the vein of the first 5 books it would arguably be my favourite series ever but the books get longer and longer and it’s not necessary. I started feeling like it was dragging in book 6 and I slogged my way through book 7, I’ve been putting off diving into this 1200 page beast because of the size and how much I felt like the last one dragged. I managed 138 pages before throwing the towel in, we have basically had a chapter from each characters pov showing us in great detail how much they are grieving for certain characters after the events of the previous book. I know we need to see the after effects but 138 pages of grief!!! It’s not needed and I can’t deal with a plot moving at glacial pace with page upon page of overly emotional inner monologue

This installment felt longer than it needed to be.

tremendo libro, toda una montaña rusa y como ha acabado me ha dejado bastante cagada
no sé como el siguiente va a ser ya el último, creo que queda demasiado por resolver como para que ya se acabe

“We must feel the bad as deeply as the sea, for then we are able to feel the joy as high as the moon.”

The writers really said how exciting it would be to forget the plot and mix all the povs to mess with our readers' head. So they wrote this book with 19 povs and 1242 pages. Seriously? SERIOUSLY?? NINETEEN DAMN POVS??? Are you kidding me?? And not a satisfying ending?? I'm disappointed

wow. what a shitshow.

listen... the only reason I'm still here is because I LOVE those moments with the characters where they're just allowed to have wholesome and fun moments. in other words, I basically don't care about the plot. and in this book, all we got was the plot. the amount of skimming I did... please just give me a novella WHERE EVERYONE IS HAPPY AND I GET BLUELANCE AND SETHCALEB MOMENTS.

I’ve been pretty interested in these books. I want to see the characters succeed but it’s been so drawn out that I’m loosing interest. Great story just really long. This addition of characters pov that have barely if never mentioned early on was not my favorite. Okay, I get it for the sake of keeping up with the main characters. It just seemed unnecessary to me. Not sure if I’m going to read book 9.
