A tragic, reflective account of how victims redefine their suffering. Complex and emotional characters, hopeful yet angry in their acceptance of their misgivings and disabilities. Mab, Monday, and Mirabelle become the heroes of the story they were written into but didn’t choose and their sisterhood is beautiful and devastating all the way through the finale.
Wow! I loved the writing style. Character development of the 3 sisters was so special. Yes a mother's love is not the be-all end-all but she demonstrated grit and hard-work.

A surprisingly good read. At first I almost quit reading because the narration is so slow, but after listening to the rest of the book at 1.5x speed im glad I didn’t quit. A YA read that centers on the lives experiences of three sisters, triplets. A bit of romance, but the majority of the story is focused on their unique qualities as sisters, daughters, and members of a community. Not thrilling or suspenseful, but a slight mystery that kept me reading through the end. The topics can be heavy, but in a way I’m not used to seeing in YA novels: ie, not sexual or social but rather political/economically.

Laurie Frankel is being added to my auto-buy list because this is the second book I've read of hers that I've given a 5-Star rating to. This novel, centered around triplets, a small town, and a factory whose negligence creates years of devastation, grabbed my attention from the start and it never waned. I listened via audio, and there were three distinct narrators for the triplets, which brought these characters to life and made me adore each one of them. This is definitely another one I'll be recommending for best of 2021.
A story of three teen triplets, Mab, Monday and Mirabel. Mab who is the “ normal” one, Monday who has autism and Mirabel who has a brilliantly clever mind, but unable to speak on her own or move anything but her fingers on one had due to cerebral palsy. They are growing up in a sleepy town where there has been an “incident” which has effected all those who live there. You find out about half way through the book that it is a chemical spill from a plant that most of the tent town what time each killed many and made lots more sick. Then the plant closed, leaving most of the town unemployed. Frankel does an excellent job of developing very believable child characters she spends her time developing all of the characters in the book and you feel like you really know them. Here of a book, this is how it always is, also stars a young child and her siblings and she does a really great job. I think overall, this book could have been a little shorter/ faster moving but I understand why Frankel took her time to develop the characters. Overall 4 stars ⭐️
I’m sure people are really mixed about this one. I liked it and appreciated the narrators and their differences
