5 Venom Stars!
This is a smart, sexy, super hot AND emotional story.
-Olivia is a kicka*s girl. She is smart, motivated and bucks the status quo. I LOVE her. She is mature for her age and seems to understand what’s important, the bigger picture.
Clay is a privileged debutante who has bullied Olivia for being openly gay, for being poor…but, really it’s her putting her unhappiness on an easy target.
They have a very intense relationship!
They even are competitive and aggressive against each other playing on the SAME sports team!
-Clay feels suffocated by expectations put on her. She is unhappy at home and with her life in general. She is fighting against parts of herself she wants to hide. She is bitter, unhappy and feels trapped so she lashes out.
Both of them have less than ideal home situations.
However, Olivia (Liv) has support and love from her older brothers who basically raised her. There’s a hint of resentment and guilt in the household, but they are there for each other(I love her brothers and their family dynamic!) Her brothers are interesting, funny and a great addition to the story.
Clay’s family has suffered a tragic loss and her parents are crumbling. She’s in a lot of pain.
She also feels pressure from her family to be the perfect southern society young lady.
-The two girls have great feisty banter. The hate lust vibes are combustible

DNF'D at 105 pages/20% - I can't work out whether I am just struggling because it's a bully romance and I'm just not into that trope anymore. Or whether I'm struggling because it's a specifically sapphic bully romance and I would rather these teenage women don't be really awful to each other. Also they both just feel really young to me as a 29 year old lady. Just not for me. A little sad because a sapphic Pen Douglas sounded so good but I can't read another 400 pages of this.

I apparently enjoyed this quite a bit post-wisdom tooth surgery but I can’t remember enough of it to rate it without feeling guilty. The ending was super cute though.

LOVEEEE. This book was fabulous my actual rating is 3.75, it had me hooked from the beginning. My only issue was they were high schoolers, because I’m so far removed from that point of my life LOL. My main issue was just the miscommunication like oh my GOD.

They were driving me nuts. The smut scenes were fabulous but also soooo romantic, like Clay was obviously a lesbian from the get go LOL, and their mutual obsession was so cute actually.

I LOVE the dynamic of Liv and her brothers, ngl it was hard to keep up because there were so many and they all had unique names. But I wished we could get a back story on Callum and Dallas, that could make a potentially good series ONLY if Callum redeemed himself. Because him and his buddies were actually disgusting.

I loved Macon, he was sooooo hot I need a series following him or maybe detailing all of the brothers. I love Penelope’s writing and how she always includes some action scenes in her novels. I truly recommend this book to anyone who’s interested in a good wlw enemies to lovers story!
