I found this just a bit predictable. The plot was a bit farfetched, and I wasn’t surprised by what was happening, which I think I was supposed to be. The writing on the whole was okay, good enough that I would consider reading another of his books, but generally it’s a family saga that’s trying to be a bit of a thriller but isn’t really.

An addictive listen, full of mystery that I wanted to unearth. It is very witty, with just the right amount of humour to not make you feel overwhelmed by the seriousness of the plot. The characters are fully realised, and you can really get a sense of who they are beyond the story.

I loved hearing it in Graham's voice, though he did add a touch of sarcasm to scenes that were perhaps more emotional than they were presented.

Overall I enjoyed it, but the last hour was a little disappointing. Didn't ruin the experience, but I just wish I could have changed some parts. This was my first by Graham Norton and it won't be my last.

This is a review of the audio version of the novel, narrated by the author, Graham Norton.

I was expecting a charming story of a woman rediscovering her roots when returning from New York, but this turned out to be the slow reveal of an old mystery interpersed with current family drama(s).  A solid easy read, just ignore the plot holes and setttle down to be entertained.

I was so pleased in this instance that the narrator was the author, as it really added to the story, and he has such an easy accent to understand.
