Eye-opening visits with and interviews of working-class Latino/a  immigrants --"illegal" ones-- in the US. Plus there's autobiographical input of the author who grew up as an illegal immigrant (with her illegal-immigrant parents) in the US.

I've never fully grasped the level of unrelenting stress and fear that the undocumented live with 24/7, year after year, in the US. Until I read this book.

This book is soooo informative and beautiful. also heartbreakingly sad. this is a must read, especially for people who don’t understand the full extent of the daily hardships immigrants face just to be in America. It’s horrible and heartbreaking.

This book is heartbreaking, amazing, raw, important, and at times darkly funny. I knew I would be glad I read this book, but there's something about Karla Cornejo Villavicencio's voice that makes me want to listen to everything she says. Some of the things described in this book made me incredibly angry and incredibly sad, and all of it felt so so real. I think anyone who considers themselves American should read this book.

Great info. Lots of language but really important info that I did not yet know. Thanks to the author for creating this for the world.
