Growing up I saw the various movie renditions of this story with my family but I was always too intimidated to read the book series (quantity and time dedication). I saw this at my local library and decided to give it a shot. They did an excellent job including all the themes from the novel in this quick retelling. Yes, it's fast-paced but that's because they are trying to fit a lot of content into a graphic novel retelling. It did inspire me to read the book series though. Even though this was a quick retelling it had me laughing and, at the end, crying. I will definitely be picking up the novels now.
