Wow. I knew after reading "Gone Girl" that I had to read Gillian Flynn's other books. This was dark, disturbing, somewhat twisted and made me cringe....and I couldn't put it down. It was that good. Similar to "Gone Girl", the characters were not likeable but I couldn't help feel sorry for them as they were just broken to an extent. I felt like I never knew what was coming next and one part totally threw me - and I read so much it's really hard for me to be surprised with a plot twist. But Ms. Flynn always manages to do surprise me. This is not for the faint of heart but it is a definite page turner!

This one was less personally difficult to read (the story didn't touch a soft spot for me) but still really dark and interesting. Reminded me (though perhaps sacrilegious to say) of In Cold Blood for some reason.

I just love Gillian Flynn, though I often wonder, while reading her books, what in the world happened to HER growing up?! Just kidding. Suspenseful, creepy and always un-put-down-able. This one had a few elements that were a little far-fetched for me, but I guess crazier things have happened. Hope she's off writing somewhere now, because I'm ready for her next one.

This book was interesting and really well written, but absolutely exhausting to read.

I enjoyed Flynn's other two books, but I had a very hard time getting through this one. It was good and kept me intrigued, but I'm not sure I would recommend this one.

Fantastic book. The only reason it took me two days to finish is that I have to attend to a toddler and feed us both and all that silly stuff. I can't say how much I loved Dark Places -- I actually put down a Kate Atkinson book I was in the middle of to read it, and I adore Atkinson. I haven't read a book that caught my attention so well or kept it so completely in ages. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I really hope to see more like this from Flynn in the future.

This was an impulse grab for me at the library. I hadn't even read the plot but grabbed it because it was written by Gillian Flynn. I have enjoyed her previous work such as Sharp Objects. I really enjoyed this book by her and I found myself getting sucked into it each time I picked it up. It was a slow read but eventually the plot thickened and I began making my own theories on who murdered the Day family. I really enjoyed this book and I'm glad I found it at my library.
