One of the more powerful nonfiction books I’ve read. Kate Moore’s writing is so engaging, she manages to make history feel immediate and deeply personal without ever losing the bigger picture. However, there were a few writing liberties taken which might have affected how I read the true account. The story itself is heartbreaking but also inspiring, and the way she centres the women’s voices makes it unforgettable. It’s beautifully written, enraging in all the right ways, and one of those books that really sticks with you.

I don't recommend the audiobook though. The narrator sounded like a robot and I still hear her swallowing.
