"...life can be so fucking cruel and hard, and I’ve wanted to quit living it so many times, but then moments like these remind me that happiness isn’t some permanent thing we’re all trying to achieve in life, it’s merely a thing that shows up every now and then, sometimes in tiny doses that are just substantial enough to keep us going."

Kenna's grief, guilt, pain, longing hits so deep. It just opens an eye to remember the person who caused something so terrible could also be hurting as much just not know how to show it. What I have at the end is happy tears though.

Okay...I will settle for three stars. I think.

I picked up this book not because I was interested in it, but because Colleen Hoover is one of the most popular authors right now and I couldn't believe I just saw a copy floating innocently around the library despite everyone usually fighting for the chance to get their hands on literally any of her books. I wanna understand! I wanna know why Colleen Hoover is so popular!

The only other Colleen Hoover book I've read was It Ends With Us, which I read four years ago in 2018. I was pretty neutral on it, although it wasn't necessarily a pleasant reading experience. I wasn't really expecting to like Reminders of Him based on my experiences on It Ends With Us, but the extremely high Goodreads ratings gave me some hope.

It was okay. It wasn't horrible! I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to read it! But I did finish in a day or two. It certainly wasn't the groundbreaking, heart shattering, revolutionary novel that some people were making it out to be. It probably was supposed to be sad. If it was, I forgot to be sad. I didn't like the characters. It was dramatic, and not in the good way. And it was kind of unrealistic.
SpoilerAnd I thought the way Kenna revealed to Diem that she was her mom was both laughable and probably not very healthy for a child to process, but ya know!
But it was entertaining enough so I'll give Miss Hoover that. I probably wouldn't pick up another book by her unless it was like this instance where I really just wanted to see what all the hype was.

was going into this with quite high expectations bcos i love colleen hoover but merely came out of this thinking it was just slightly above average
couldn’t seem to connect with any of the characters until like the last 100 pages and i haaate when i feel like i’m forcing myself to finish a book - sometimes the descriptions of the mc’s feelings felt like they were too literal and obvious for my liking
however, the overall storyline was great and a couple pages did make me shed a tear - hoping november 9 is better !!

**updating from 4 to 3 stars**

After reading more and seeing this book continue to be hyped up, I decided I didn’t like this book because I don’t care about children. There was nothing worth remembering from this book and from the rest of her books I’ve read so far, this one is my least favorite

(Initial review)

I really really want to give this book 5 stars because I read it in a day but I can’t say that it lived up to the hype around it. My heart ached for Kenna and I just about hated every other character for how they treated her. Most CoHo books have an unexpected twist somewhere and most of this book was kinda predictable. It was really good, don’t get me wrong, if my expectations weren’t so high I probably would’ve given this 5 stars.

Well, that was heartbreaking, but also an amazing story of resilience. I would recommend this book to anyone who has experienced loss which is nearly everyone.
