There were some unpleasant characters in this book. There were characters who redeemed themselves and characters who didn't deserve second, third, or fourth chances.

Kinsey's nutrition Is horrendous, but this series takes place in the 1980s and Kinsey's in her mid-thirties. She is so lucky!

I've read many, many in the alphabet series. This one had such an abundance of names, it was a little off-putting. However I really liked the 'takeaway message'- old people are not always innocent and unknowing, and rich people aren't always self-serving. The ending left a loose end, I expect might be tied up in Y or Z.
mysterious medium-paced

I gave up on it. Sorry Sue G, I have loved your Kinsey series since the 80's so much that I forked out $32.99 for the new trade copy here in Australia. I like Kinsey even if I have never liked her taste in some men! Robert eeew and Henry perhaps a bit too sexy for his age...and his obsession with wastewater was just a little boring. I'd encourage new readers of Sue Grafton to give the early books a go and don't want to spoil the goodness of this series by critiquing this book in detail-well at least to the page I read up to.

I'm sad this series is coming to an end. Only one book left with Kinsey, and then it will be time to move on.

Kinsey is back! X is one of the darker mysteries in this series and was laid out in an exciting way, with three or four plotlines going at once. At first it was a little hard to keep all of the characters straight, but the story is worth it! Kinsey has a gut feeling through the majority of the book about who the villains are, but without any proof Kinsey has a lot of work ahead of her to substantiate those feelings. X is a very solid addition to the series plus lots of Henry! For extra fun, listen to the audiobook read by Judy Kaye! – Michelle V.

This is one of the most boring and confusing mystery/crime books I’ve read! It started off with a bang, then went down hill after that. It was about 4 hours too long (I listened to the audiobook). There are WAY too many characters with 3 different story lines that have nothing to do with each other. The narrator does a terrible job of differentiating between characters. If you are looking for something to waste your time  or put you to sleep than this is the book for you.
