Not only is the story wonderful, but reading a running book by a person who is so skilled at writing was a treat! Great read!
Foreman is able to tell this story in a way that truly a professional storyteller can. For people who are getting started running this book will be a fun read.
My Year of Running Dangerously is subtitled "a dad, a daughter, and a ridiculous plan." Tom Foreman's online bio says, "he is an avid ultra-marathoner," This book bridges the gap between "ridiculous plan" and "avid ultra-marathoner." It tells the story of how a man in his fifties rediscovers his love of running and goes beyond what he could even have imagined. Informative and inspiring, the book takes me through a situation I (and most people!) will never experience first hand.

This is a wonderful book about running, being a parent, being an adult, and not forgetting the importance of doing things that make you happy. The audiobook is especially great since Foreman himself narrates it and he easily conveys the broad range of emotions he felt throughout a most interesting year.

An enjoyable and quick read about a Dads running journey with his daughter and beyond. 3.5 as his reflections got a bit repetitive at times, but loved his relationship with his daughters!
If you are, or know, a crazy ultra runner, pick this up. All the insane, challenging, hysterical and sweet reasons to run are bound up in this memoir. I loved it.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was about running & everything that goes along with it. It was touching & comedic & for a chapter I thought I would attempt an ultra marathon...then I thought better. :-)
I really loved this book. It's the only running book written by a man that I've read where the author hasn't come across as a pompous, privileged, ass.
I finished listening to it while out on a training run for a breast cancer fundraising marathon. While on the same run, I also got news that my aunt just lost her battle against breast cancer. For me, the convergence of the two events really sends home the importance of family. Tom ran for his daughter. I'm running for my aunt. May all of us runners be inspired by a love like that.
