I read The Ministry of Unladylike Activity (the series after this one) so I’m somewhat back to front in reading these books but Ive loved Robin Stevens’ writing so I always intended to come back and read these from the beginning!

I also read the Christmas one in this series before the others so I’m all higgledy piggledy but it hasn’t impacted my enjoyment of reading them and going back to the beginning at all. I already love the characters from the snippets I’ve encountered before so reading a full case with Daisy and Hazel is a treat. Love these girls.

It’s such a great series and an amazing set of books. The characters are so easy to love and I enjoyed every minute with them. I can’t wait for more and glad I have the next two books lined up!

3.5 stars, mostly because the ending felt a bit dragging, but oh what a fun cozy mystery. Looking forward to read more from Robin Stevens.

I adored this book- it’s exactly how the kind of story I’d have lapped up as a kid. I’ve already popped to the library for the sequel and am trying to get a copy for my class library.

It was St Trinians crossed with murder mystery for younger readers, with layers of texture, relatable characters and a quick-paced, well planned plot. Thoroughly recommend.

DNF 60% Felt like a pastiche of classic English mysteries, but seems to have been meant seriously. Giving up because although I was somewhat curious about the murder, I couldn't care enough to subject myself to it anymore. The self loathing issues of the narrator didn't sit as natural, and the worship of the perfect looking English girl also felt iffy. Plus, even though enough of us have head friendships with the girl who gets mean if we don't always go her way, I don't particularly need to read about one that doesn't seem likely to get resovled.
