The stories in this collection were hit-or-miss, in my opinion. I quite enjoyed The Judge's House by Brom Stoker, To Be Taken with a Grain of Salt by Charles Dickens, The Upper Berth by F. Marion Crawford, and Who Knows? By Guy de Maupassant. The others were either not particularly scary or simply dull.

Dan sebenernya agak kecewa juga sih baca buku ini, karena ternyata setelah dibeli, dari cuman tiga cerita yang ada, saya udah baca cerita pertamanya: Kidung Natal (aka A Christmas Carol).
Tapi yah, terjemahannya lumayan bagus, banget malahan.

I finished A Christmas Carol and am just not interested in the rest of the ghost stories.

I wanted to read this over Christmas, but I wasn't making good progress, so I skipped to a Christmas Carol and have decided to revisit it next year but start it earlier!

If you like A Christmas Carol, you will love the other short stories in this book. “The Haunted Man and the Ghost’s Bargain” is a new Christmas favorite of mine. Some stories weren’t too christmassy, but overall an enjoyable and thought-provoking read!
