První díl temné romantické série Clifton Forge mě nalákal obálkou i anotací. Novinářce Bryce a vůdci bývalého motorkářského gangu Kingstonovi jsem nemohla říct ne.

Not My favourite by this author. It was a bit too close to Insta love for me (or Insta lust at the very least).  As much as they mentioned how much they were taken by the other, I such didn’t really see that in many of their interactions.

“There weren’t words…Bryce was more addictive than any drug on the planet”

Also, found myself not really keen to continue reading. It was a fine story but just didn’t hook me like many of her other stories.  There were a few reveals that I was able to pick earlier.

“We aren’t good men, Bruce”
“Maybe. But you’re a good man to me”

Also ends on a bit of a cliche note 💙

Steel King is the first book in the Clifton Forge Series by Devney Perry, featuring Bryce and Dash. Bryce is back in Clifton Forge to work as a reporter on the local paper owned by her father. She sees an opportunity for a big story when, Draven, the leader of a former MC gang is arrested for a murder. Bryce puts herself in the path of Dash, Draven’s attractive son, as a way to gain information. Can she keep an open mind, or will she have condemn Draven as guilty no matter what? As the connection between Dash and Bryce builds, can it withstand the obstacles and twists they face?

This book has good world building, and the characters are interesting. I like the romantic suspense genre, and the whodunnit theme here is very intriguing, especially the unexpected twists. The only thing I didn’t like was that the truth of the crime doesn’t come out in this book. I hope it’s not something that is stretched out over the entire series. The chemistry between Dash and Bryce was super spicy, and it seems like the other bikers could make for interesting stories. I also loved the bonus scene. I’ll definitely be reading the next book, in the hopes that the crime is solved.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Loved it! Would recommend, almost perfect and likely would reread.

In the former Montana motorcycle club, Bryce Ryan suspects there's more to their closed clubhouse than meets the eye. As the new owner of the local newspaper, she aims to uncover the truth. When a murder occurs, pointing fingers at the club, Bryce sets out to expose them. Despite besting the club leader, Dash Slater, in multiple encounters, a surprising twist changes the game. A single kiss forces Bryce to fight not only for her story but also to protect her heart from the mysterious Steel King.

For someone that doesn't have the best track record with MC romances, I very much enjoyed this. I loved Bryce when we met her in the The Outpost, she really stuck in my brain for ages and I was so excited for this book. I think the let down is I wanted more depth in their relationship before and after the spice started. It felt kind of rushed and obviously the ending leaves on a slight cliffy which kept me wanting more. I can not wait to see where the rest of the series goes.

SPICE: 0.5: one to two lightly described, mostly fade to black
Tropes: enemies to lovers, MC small town romance,
Triggers: MC activity, mentions of murder, kidnapping

This is not a typical MC romance. It is so much more!
I was so engrossed and pleasantly surprised.
The setting, mood and characters are great!
The vibe and flow is so different from what I would expect from an MC romance or a small town romance.
It’s a hybrid trope/genre of romance and I love it!
I loved the unique twist on a Motorcycle Club and its affect on a town.
The mystery and secrets kept me intrigued!
I was completely engaged in the story and I was eagerly anticipating the reveal and outcome.
Great characters and story!
Loved it!
