this might be my favorite book in the second series so far. the clans searching for/settling into their new homes and setting up boundaries was interesting.
tallstar’s dying wish for onewhisker to take over was a bit of a shock, but made sense later since there needed to be some drama, right? lol
leafpool’s discovery of the new moon pool was so beautifully written, i could see the whole scene clearly in my head. her connection with starclan is truly powerful, which brings me to my first critique.
leafpool and crowfeather? be so fucking fr. there was ZERO chemistry between them. anytime they’ve spoken in the past they always talked about feathertail. (WHOM CROWFEATHER CHOSE HIS WARRIOR NAME AFTER MIGHT I ADD?)
how can his huge love for feathertail just wash away that fast??? why are we unnecessarily having leafpool reflect on romance and introduce a romantic partner when she never once indicated anything like this before? why is it always the same plot for these medicine cats bro.
a whole nothing burger of drama.
the whole squirrelflight and brambleclaw drama is tired, can we move on already? they’re clearly in love.
( also am i maybe a bit pressed bc i think if anything, leafpool and sorreltail had more of a connection? i still don’t think leafpool should have a love interest at all, but if anyone i think it should’ve been sorreltail. they’ve been so close the past few books and now suddenly they both have crushes on random toms??? queer erasure!!!! ☝️)

I liked this book but it was so frustrating as well.
Onewhisker is a pushover.
Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw keep on fighting about Hawkfrost bc they are both too proud to make up and truly talk about whatever is going on between them.
Crowfeather & Leafpool are babies tho i luv them
