I CRY

CRY CRY CRY

(From sadness? From happiness? From FEELS? WHO KNOWS)

This was everything i wanted and more. Probably my favourite book of the year so far.

The characters are just so good. So far from perfect. No one even close to perfect! In fact, I think every single character does something kinda awful. AND YET I LOVE THEM ALL.

And the audiobook narration is unbelievable.

What will Lara Elena Donnelly do next??? I gotta read it!

It was still very good, & provided the proper closure, but it felt lacking compared to the previous two. Less intrigue, maybe? Less Cordelia? Unsure what it was.

I forgot how stressful these books are, even being vaguely spoiled for the ending it took me a while to get through because I had to force my self to keep going at parts because it's just too much (but I couldn't put it down because also I needed to know what happens). I loved Stephen. I never liked Lillian, but I guess I came around on her at the end.

As a book in itself this might have been more of a 4,5 star read if I was being picky but honestly I just love the series a lot so it gets a bonus half star!

I had a great time with this series. It's 30's vibes are so strong throughout and I think every book has given me a lot of this world. The characters are complex and flawed and yet I want to see them succeed. I love that the relationship between Astride and Cyril is not easily figured out or "cutesy" and it's characters trying to deal with what happened to them, especially in this book. Mary Robinette Kowal knocks the audiobook narration out of the park. It did feel like this one had slightly less plot than the others and I still feel like the first one is the best one of the series, but I had a great time with the whole series. Highly recommend.
