The way she professionally and personally took him down at the end of the book
“This is still your blowjob, you are in control.”
This woman’s got an ass built for back shots but a face made for missionary.
“The things you crave go much deeper than you let on. And at the bottom, you want to be degraded and praised and used. It's as if you want to bring me to my knees—well guess what, Sunshine? You fucking do.”
This is my uterus so pissed off I haven’t put a baby in her womb room that it’s decided to rip out the insulation in all four walls and attic.
He wraps his palms behind my calves and squeezes. “Because I kneel for you.” A smile spreads across his face, and I swear I melt into a puddle. “You wanted people to see this side of me, so that’s what I’m doing. I’m leaving my ego at the door. You are my queen, and I will kneel for you every day. You aren’t a quiet girlfriend on the side, you’re center ice.”
She’d probably pick an ugly tree just so its feelings aren’t hurt.
“My wife’s such an eager little cumslut, even for her own pussy . . . God, you’re perfect.” I kiss her lips, and she mewls against mine.

Jordan ends her engagement to her abusive fiancé, and ends up living with his former best man Camden.
The way the topic of abusive relationships was approached was so sensitive, realistic, and empathetic.
Jordan was such a great character. I love that she wasn't portrayed as just a broken victim. I loved her humour and kindness, and her determination to get her revenge (which is really just justice).
Camden was also EVERYTHING. My favourite MMC of the series. It was such a joy to get to explore his backstory. I loved his care and compassion towards Jordan, and that he didn't stand in her way when she was acting out her plan.
This type of book sometimes falls into the realm of male saviour, but St James managed to avoid that entirely- Camden is supporting Jordan but her story is her own.
The spice in this book was also exactly what I've come to expect from The Lakes series - absolutely filthy. Camden has THE BEST dirty mouth and Jordan has a romance book inspired bucket list. Yes please.
I'm devastated that this series is over, and I can't imagine I'll ever read a better sports romance.
