Kind of a messy anthology, & I guess I misunderstood the premise? I was under the impression that it was by women & about women, but I was only right on the first account - so many of these stories were male-focused, too hetero, or relied too much on gender tropes and clichés, and some parts felt less than professional work. Did particularly enjoy All Cats are Quantum, in which the premise is that all civilized life in the universe has some form of feline, and that they all operate on the same frequency so if you're doing any space travel, you gotta take some cats. I am 100% on board with this. Also enjoyed Countdown, The Vesta, and Trinkets. Unfortunately most other stories were unmemorable, annoying to me for one reason or another, or had epic storylines that were crammed unsuccessfully into short form to the point where I couldn't make sense of them. Sometimes short form is harder than long form - lack of clarity & conciseness was the main issue in most of the stories.
