This was so so good

What Jackson accomplishes with this homage to Carrie at times improves and surpasses the original, especially in terms of social commentary and the modern complexity of bullying in school.

The characters were great, the writing addictive and transporting, and the pace one that moves in a captivating manner .

It is a book that has a lot to say and demands to be heard. The kills were pretty cool too

Just amazing from start to end.

Such a fun Black retelling of Carrie! The perspectives this was told in was very interesting, and the audiobook was high production. Only minus for the slightly open ending.

This book was such an emotional read for me. The cruel bullying that Maddy had to endure not only from her classmates but from her wonderful father was disgusting and my heart broke for her. Kenny and Maddy were one of the same both dealing with their families so desperately wanting them to be something they were not. I wish that we got to know the truth about what happened to Maddy in the end. I have an idea but I would have loved an update about her and Kenny. Overall, I enjoyed this book. It was my first from this author and I look forward to reading more from her.
