Let's be honest... Who's here because of that one Tumblr post?
This is the first (and probably only) Minecraft novelization I've read. The idea of a Minecraft novel never occurred to me before this, and frankly doesn't sound all that interesting (even having been a Minecraft nut as a kid). But the thought of an isekai-like story was intriguing.

It's middle grade, so it's a light one-day read. It might be confusing if you know nothing about Minecraft, like an inside joke that doesn't make sense. Even so, it's entertaining. You'd think a story about a person trying to survive on a deserted island would be boring, but MC's relationship with Moo (Wilson 2.0?) is adorable. Somehow the plot twists are surprising (mostly). Or maybe I underestimated the book and wasn't paying enough attention...

Either way, the book captures the essence of playing Minecraft. I recommend it if you like/d the game. Reading it won't change your life, but at least you'll have fun!

Really liked it but unsure if I will continue. I think I'm a bit too old.

Overall I enjoyed the story and am so curious to figure out the mystery of how the main character got into this world. I liked the character growth a lot, and the ending was great. Parts of this book, especially in the beginning parts having to do with crafting, were rather tedious though. But again, overall, very good story. The writing was of much higher quality than I expected! I might read more from this author!
