If you are into horror I highly recommend this one. Atmosphere and story were there for me even listening to the audiobook, gave me chills a few times lol. Def go through the trigger warnings though as needed, the descriptions were detailed. Alternating POVs were really good here too.

This was something.

I think this really does have a few downright skin crawling and unsettling scenes, and by the end, i felt a lot of pity for the characters put in front of us.

I am on the fence when it comes to horror authors writing gross and gratuitous scenes, not for plot purposes but just because the writer can.
There was the once scene specifically in Shelley's POV that was particularly grotesque, and when reading  felt almost as if the author was trying to beat it over the head and say, "Look at me! Aren't i a great author!"

I had more than one moment when i thought the author himself was creepy. Im not sure if he meant to do that, but there were some weird choices, such as legnthy passages about the way these young boys smelled in  great detail borderlining fantasy or the very descriptive moments of a young teenage boys erection which was inappropriate  at best. Im of the opinion that fantasizing and writing in that great detail about children is almost never appropriate or needed to further the story. Especially when the second offense occurs more than once.

It wasn't bad i just really had some icks with this one.

This book is an absolute fucking nightmare, I mean this in the best way possible.
Not for even the remotely faint of heart, I usually have a strong stomach for media like this but event I had to avoid the book for a couple of days when my real life got stressful.

This book is hard to describe... but I'll lay it out. It's gross. The descriptions are graphic and utterly disgusting. However, it's a really good read if you're able to stomach it. Storyline grows at a decent pace with some real unexpected reveals in some of the characters development. I picked this book up assuming it was gonna be like a basic zombie style book or something. But it wasn't! No zombies... but
spoiler alert and trigger warning for anyone who has issues with parasites and tape worms
I rated it so high because a book has never grossed me out and intrigued at the same time as much as this book did.

I read this book originally because I wanted to read something that would scare me…this book delivered. It was tough to get through some sections of the book because it was so graphic and I personally can’t stomach or stand animal cruelty. I really liked that the science behind the plot was accurate, that it was based in Canada, and the scary scenes that did not involve animal cruelty.
