My roommate loves this book. He's very unsettled by it and I agree, v spoopy, v uncomfy, v no thank you. But...I just really need to read a horror book that commits to an ending. The last 3 have been all hand-wavy and I just want something else.

Truly cannot overemphasize how gross/yucky/icky the body horror in this book is. Expect vivid descriptions of extremely unpleasant bodily functions and experiences, for both humans and animals. I love things that make me squeamish but even I won't soon forget some of the imagery in this book.booksnakeaaron's review

When they finally acted, it was too late - had it ever not been too late?
To say I didn’t know what I was getting myself into would be an understatement. And yet at the end, through all the gore, the pain, the quasi-panic attack I had about 3/4 of the way through the book, I was glad I read this.
That being said, please check the content warnings. And if you have any kind of contamination phobia like I do, meaning bodily fluids and parasites, please don’t read this. I likely wouldn’t have picked this book up if I had known what lurked beneath the cover. And if you read the word “kitten,” skip ahead a few pages. I did and I couldn’t be more glad
