I think I don't quite understand the meaning of this story. I guess I am too young for it, maybe I'll reread it sometime when I am older.

I don't know if this is good. it felt infantile, basic. but at some moments the rhythms and the descriptions of the fauna got to me.

EDIT: a few weeks later I keep coming back to this image, going far, giving one's all and coming back with nothing but the silhouette of the struggle. It comes to me in unexpected moments this image of the carcass on the beach. Even though, I'm still not convinced by this novella as a whole - I don't think I ever read such a tender and sympathetic yet frank portrayal of weakness and failure. The way the piece both refuses an hollywoodian conclusion or a tragic tone is so compelling to me. Yes, he failed.

Interminable in the middle

Hemingways einfache Sprache entwickelt einen Sog, dem sich zu entziehen unmöglich ist.
