The publisher sent this book to me to review. This is about a rich doctor, Jay, in NY whose nephew has committed suicide. He goes back to his brother and sister in law, and the whole family - mom dad and son- all are bipolar and were living off the state, had never made anything of themselves. Jay makes sure to repeat that over and over, how awesome he and his family are and how nothing his brother and his family are. He finds out that his nephew may not have committed suicide after all, and then this whole The Following type story happens, but I won't give you spoilers. It was kind of interesting, but nothing special, and the superior snotty attitude that the main character had just ruined everything. If you don't mind that, then you should check out this book. It wasn't anything i'd seek out to read, but wasn't bad.

Loved this book.  Very fast paced.  A family split between the "haves and the have nots.  Two brothers fight to resolve the death of the son and nephew only to find the story pulls on both families.  Definitely worth the read!

A family tries to cope with the their only son's death (ruled suicide). The father's brother comes to town to help and end up looking for answers - was it really a suicide... As he digs into the death, the father's past comes back to haunt him.

I was lucky to receive this from first-reads since I can't remember the last time I read a mystery/thriller. It was a much-needed page-turning break from Literature and academic writing. Sometimes a good crazy murder mystery really hits the spot!

Not one of his best books. This book didn't really resonate with me. Seemed a tad slow and detached. I didn't really get any emotional resonance from it until the climax, when Charlie and Gabby brought tears to my eyes. I guess I was just in the mood to read a book that had the pacing of the ending and epilogue. Having lived in Santa Barbara for over a decade a couple discrepancies drew me out of the story.

Starting another library book, because of ridiculous publisher pricing.
