Another sweet story. I like how strong Naomi was in her convictions and that she didn't let Abe push her around. I would have liked to see more from Abe's perspective. It seemed he was just suddenly in love. Otherwise, this was a nice, short read.

I grabbed this one off the pile cause I was looking for a lighthearted, fun, Christmas read. Something to make me feel festive.

Boy did I fail!

There is all sorts of emotional drama in this book. Illness, depression, family drama, a vindictive wannabe other woman. Not much lightheartedness between these pages.

Still, it was an absolutely wonderful read. It eventually led you towards hope, forgiveness and self growth.

It may not have been what I was hoping to read, but it was what I needed in that moment. A wonderful read.

Why am I not surprised to be let down? A good premise, a good start and I thought I had a good female MC, Naomi, but the minute she sees the male MC, Abe...everything that was once great about her disappears.

Since we had no chapters to show us Abe's POV, I have major doubts he was as in love as Naomi was; everything with him, for her, was FIRSTS...1st kiss, 1st orgasm w/a man [no penetration]. And let me just say he spoils her perfect first kiss by never telling her that he has a "business relationship" with another woman...a proper woman, who can be by his side, and he truly feels no remorse for not telling her.

She pushes him away but then he...seduces her to an extent where he's making her believe he's broken up with the OW, so now they can bone all night long or for however long she's here. Naomi is a maternity nanny; she stays with new mothers for the 6-8wks they need to recover, taking care of the baby when Moms need a rest. She's working for a best friend who just had a baby...and Abe is the Uncle to this baby.

Ugh, another smug a-hole I wanted to punch in the face...who wanted to "claim" her and make her HIS by Christmas. Here is my problem with only getting her POV, all we see is how shady and crude this dude is, so he has no redeeming qualities. And when it seemed like he was going to take her virginity, with no qualms, he makes a dumb offer to TAKE HER AWAY to an island vacation so they could just have sex.

I never had any inkling he ever had a single authentic romantic emotion for her, except wanting her body in his bed. Eventually, he comes up with the stupidest plan to ignore her for a week then take her to a charity ball... as she'd just swoon for him. Well, Abe knew her better than me, but the OW infiltrated and made Naomi doubt him. Abe drags her to his home, for a private talk...and blurts out the truth, almost to the extent he "accidentally" calls her WIFE, and then he is oddly confessing this massive love he's been feeling which makes her confess too. And then we have the most ridic HEA sped up to 85mph...where everyone is fine and dandy with this quick LOVE admission and quick small wedding on Christmas.

This nearly reminded me of this really cruel Alpha-hole HQ PRESENTS from years ago where the Billionaire...or maybe in those days it was only a Millionaire...but he had thought the only way he could seduce the Virgin heroine into his bed was to marry her. He'd say all the right words, never feeling their authenticity until the very end. It typically would come about because his means of seduction were foiled and she had stated, "I might just be saving my virginity for MY WEDDING NIGHT."...and then he would sadistically mastermind plans on wedded bliss to boink her, keeping a "trophy wife" and lying to her face countless times until he really DID start to fall in love...ugh, smug bastard!
