Interesting storytelling over the course of a rainy Sunday afternoon with the De Laney's as they reflect on different moments in their lives after Charles, husband to Maria De Laney, denounces the three siblings as 'Parasites'. Reflects on the children of great parents, nepotism or riding their coattails, inherited artistic skillsets that aren't fully developed. Not a typical Du Maurier story, but the narrative prompted a lot of introspection.
Moderate: Adult/minor relationship

I can’t pin down my feelings about duMaurier. I like her books and I don’t like them. I find them both compelling and boring, pointless and meaningful.
Best as I can tell, if you like duMaurier, you’ll like this book. If you don’t, you won’t.
