This one hit hard in the emotions department. MaryAnn has suffered some serious trauma and her continued PTSD was at times hard to read. If you have dealt with something similar to this in the past, here's your trigger warning. The descriptions are so well written that I found myself needing to step away a few times. I always came back, and the ending is why I continue to read books that trigger me or push me past what I'm comfortable in the moment - I read stories like this to help process my own trauma.

The story isn't just about MaryAnn and her trauma because Dean also has trauma he's trying to work through. He may not be as broken as MaryAnn, but he does have walls in place to protect himself. It made him a very sympathetic character, and made me love him even more. There is a lot of sexiness and passion in this one, but the sweet and tender moments were some of my favorite. I loved the way MaryAnn broke down Dean's walls and the way Dean gave MaryAnn a safe place to finally be herself. It's all about coming through terrible things and finding the rainbow at the end of that darkness.
