Well I was not expecting to get so stuck into this book, my lovely friend lent me the whole series and I'm so chuffed because I've gone straight onto book 2.

I was not expecting the twist near the end. It's an exciting book with lots of thrills throughout. The fantasy elements mixed with humanity is really interesting and I love reading this kind of book so I'm glad I got stuck in. There are lots of secrets that are uncovered and I don't think I could have guessed any of them, very well written and planned out.

I really enjoyed the story line of Clary and Jace particularly but also really like Simon's sarcasm, Isabelle's sass and Alec's attitude towards certain people. I don't want to give any spoilers, all I can say is that it's well worth a read.

I finally picked this book up after wanting to read it years ago in high school, but Emmmabooks on YouTube is obsessed with The Mortal Instruments series so she got me. I did enjoy it a lot, but I didn't feel the urge to read the rest of the series right away. I loved the plot twists and fantasy aspect. I will say that I'm writing the review over a year later and it's hard for me to recall much of what happened, so I might just reread it eventually.

This definately didn't end the way I thought it would. Needless to say I am a little frustrated but already bought the second book in the series so I guess I'll start it and see if I can't get past my disapointment.
