Waking Up Married is one of many titles in Harlequin's newest series entitled KISS. Their stories highlight "the delirium of a potential new romance." This particular title is about a new relationship, but the couple meets, flirts, and marries all in one evening. Conner Reed jumped into the marriage with eyes wide open, but Megan remembered nearly nothing from her drunken night on the town. Conner wants the marriage to succeed, but Megan continues to question her new husband. Can this be real? Can a marriage remain between strangers?

Oh, what a humorous and quick read! The outrageous situation is entertaining and the ending comical and sweet.

Time Period: modern
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada and Colorado, United States

I honestly don't know whether I like this book or not. It was a good read, but not something I'd need to read again, and it was slightly unrealistic in my eyes but whatever. It's fiction.

It was free. It was predictable, but who doesn't like a cute, quick read.

Sexy and fun, at places silly. Basically, an ordinary romance, but the sexy and fun parts are really good.

This is a super fun, easy read for anyone looking to kill some time with a great HEA. The character development is really well done. Ms. Kelly does a wonderful job fleshing out her main couple as well as the background characters. If you like easy quick read you should absolutely pick up Waking Up Married. ~Notte

This was a cute freebie harlequin that ate up an evening in a pleasant way.

The structure of the beginning of Waking Up Married, incorporating flashbacks in ascending order, made it a bit like hearing the punch-line then going back to fill in the joke. After we play catch-up it is a pretty simple romance, modern in its ideals and alpha in its sex life with a HEA that everyone but our heroes could see coming. Still it was an enjoyable piece of fluff that occupied an evening when I didn’t really want to fill my head with anything weighty.

I give this book three stars

This was a fun read, although it was very predictable. The author never really scratches the surface of the characters, so they seem kind of flat...but the story was enjoyable nonetheless.

Harlequin is promoting this book as the banner carrier of their new KISS line. From all the hype I expected something youthful and fresh, like if the KISS line was a dessert, it would be a crisp and sassy, low-cal dessert. With citrus. Instead I got a Diet Coke. With lime.

At the very least I expected it to feel more "youthful" because that's how it's being promoted. But except for the fact that the heroine isn't in a work/family position where she's subservient to the hero (he's her boss, etc.), this felt exactly like the PRESENTS novels I used to read. The heroine has a career. Bravo. But she didn't feel any more like a modern twenty-something than any other Harlequin heroine does (Harlequin's selling point for KISS). And I happen to be something of an expert on modern twenty-somethings: I am one.

I know that category romances try to pack a punch at an abbreviated length, and I took that into consideration, both when I picked up the book and when I gave it two stars.

I figured this would be a light, romantic read, but I didn't expect the emotions I got from the dialogue. The story was a bit predictable and drawn out, but at the same time it wasn't. I found myself thinking "Make up your minds!" more than once, in a good way. I also like that the book gives multiple points-of-view from the characters.
Megan is an independent woman who is tired of dealing with men and the hurt they can cause. She decides to take matters into her own hands and have a baby herself. She just needs the right guy to provide the good stuff. But right now, she must deal with going to Vegas for her cousin's wedding.
Connor is a controlling businessman who is used to getting what he wants. He and a few of his buddies decide to take a trip to Vegas. Connor and Megan had rough childhoods, resulting in both of them having trouble in their romantic relationships
After drinking way to much, Megan and Connor wake up together the next morning. She can't remember a thing, but he remembers everything. Megan wants a divorce, knowing that this isn't part of her plan. Connor remembers what they talked about the night before, and he just can't let her go. He wants to give the marriage a try. Megan isn't so sure. So, they decide on a trial period. After that, she is free to go if she wants to.
Connor spends the next few weeks trying to show her how great they are together. Megan tries to get him to see the things that may not be so great about the relationship, like him coming home to find her wearing a stinky face mask. After a while, it gets to be too much for her, so she heads back home. Connor doesn't want to give her up that easily.
In the end he learns not to be so controlling and I have to admit that he pissed me off a few times. It was also hard to stay mad at him when he was doing it in a caring way just trying to get her to see that the marriage could work. Megan learns how to open up and allow him to be a part of her life and that not all men make promises that they don't keep.
The ending itself was really sweet. I would say more about why, but I don't want to give it away. So, this is your typical Vegas wedding story, with a twist. I think it is something a bit different and refreshing.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
