I devoured this book. I had no idea where it was going, but boy oh boy, I enjoyed it so much when I got there. Definitely going to be picking up the sequel!

This was a ridiculous amount of fun. It really hit the spot. Adventure, mystery and monsters. All the things I love.

I listened to this book based on the many people talking about it in my Facebook horror book group. While I mostly enjoyed it, I feel like there was a lot of lead up to not much happening. I kept waiting for something really crazy and mind bending to happen, and some of it was, but I was mostly disappointed with the reveal. Crazy stuff did happen, but I felt the build up overshadowed actual events.

Nolan is the star of a web series called “The Anomaly.” He and his team travel to the Grand Canyon to search for a cave first discovered by anthropologist, Kincaid. No one has been able to find the cave Kincaid wrote about for the past 100 years. Most believe he made it up, but Nolan and team think they can find it.

The group sets off, hiking to the bottom of the canyon, then taking a raft down the Colorado River to where Nolan thinks the cave entrance is. They don’t find anything at first, but once they pass the area several times, they see an opening high in a cliff wall. The team climbs up, finding a mysterious cave. Once inside, things begin spiraling out of their control. At first, this discovery is very exciting. But the longer they are there, the more unsettling things get. What is this cave? Who made it? Will they survive? The Anomaly is an incredible story of discovery, survival, and ingenuity.

The book cover compares this book to Dan Brown, which I find hilarious. This book is nothing like the Dan Brown books I’ve read. If you like horror, suspense, light body horror and a sense of impending doom, you’ll probably like this book.
