This third book was good, and I will definitely read the 4th. It was interesting that it took her 4 men to realize that Vivi was trying to set her up, and it makes me wonder why Vivi still doesn't trust Rhett/Rip and Chloe's relationship with him.

We do get more of an insight into him when Chloe follows up on an incident from Rip's youth.

The murder mystery was interesting, but not sure I bought the reasoning behind who committed the murder. The 4 stars are for the characters, not so much for the mystery.

Three Shots to the Wind by Sherry Harris the 3rd instalment in the "Chloe Jackson, Sea Glass Saloon Mystery" series. What can I say other than I loved it even more than the first two books! I read it in one day, couldn’t put it down.

Former Chicago librarian Chloe Jackson loving her new life as a bartender in Florida…until a surprise visit from her Windy City ex-fiancé ends with him blown away in the Panhandle!

I found myself engrossed in the story and I love the setting of Emerald Cove, Florida panhandle. The way the author described it really makes me want to live there or at least visit. I could picture myself sitting in Chloe’s screened in porch with a sweet tea and a good book or taking walks along the beach.

The protagonist Chloe is a very likeable and we are starting to see new layers to the main side characters especially Vivi.

The mystery had just enough suspects, red herrings, and twists and turns to keep you guessing till the end. I found it to be a fun fast read. I am looking forward to seeing what is next for Chloe and Vivi.

I highly recommend this series to all my cozy loving friends.

I requested and received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Kensington Books and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my OWN

Author Sherry Harris is one of my go-to cozy mystery authors because she always delivers. Three Shot to the Wind is the third book in the Chloe Jackson, Sea Glass Saloon Mystery series. I love the characters in this series, and Ms. Harries just keeps writing them better and better with each book. In this entry, Chloe's day started out very strange, with gifts and messages of love being sent to her. When Chloe takes a break from the bar and goes out for a run, her day takes another turn when she finds the body of her ex-fiance, whom she hadn't seen since she left Chicago.

With that opening, Ms. Harris gives her reader a mystery that is a tangled web of secrets and deceit. The plot moves along swiftly and with each new suspect, Chloe was able to see a different side of her ex-fiance. However, it seems the real killer has targeted Chloe and Rip trying to frame him for the murder. There is a lot happening to keep the reader on their toes or risk missing a clue that is subtly woven into the story. I also enjoyed meeting Chloe's brothers and hope we get to see more of her family in future stories.

As I said in the beginning, Ms. Harris always delivers. This was a fun mystery full of great characters, an interesting plot, and an engaging mystery. I can't wait to see what comes next for Chloe in future installments.

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy provided to me by the publisher, Kensington, through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own and were not influenced by the manner in which I received this book.

This is the third installment of the Chloe Jackson, Sea Glass Saloon Mysteries and this one is even better than the first two! I thoroughly enjoyed this and I am bummed that I have to wait for the next one! Chloe continues to thrive in Emerald Cove and her relationship with Vivi is becoming much more comfortable. She is finally starting to feel like she is a partner in the bar, instead of just an employee. In this book, Chloe is mortified when she sees a plane pulling a banner reading "I LOVE YOU CHLOE JACKSON." She immediately gets a barrage of text messages and calls from people wondering the identity of her secret admirer. She knows it can't be her beau, Rhett/Rip. The gifts keep pouring in, including her favorite flowers and wine, and an invitation to a fancy restaurant. She also learns that her ex-fiancé, Perry is in town for a convention, but they parted ways years ago, so could her secret admirer be Perry?

Chloe has an amazing relationship with her co-worker, Joaquin and his husband, Michael. Her relationships with Vivi and Rip are growing and she is getting to know and love the residents of the town. She is horrified to learn that Perry is found dead, floating in a pond near her house, and Rip is one of the main suspects. Chloe starts investigating and learns that there was a lot more to Perry than she originally thought. She is also surprised when her brothers come down from Chicago to act as body guards to keep her safe. There were so many twists and turns in this book, it kept me guessing until the end!

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of this novel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is an excellent series and I think this is the best instalment so far: gripping, fast paced, and twisty.
I was glad to catch up with Chloe and the cast of characters, travel to the lovely setting, and try to guess the culprit and the motive.
Ms Harris is an excellent storyteller and I read this book in one setting.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Dollycas’s Thoughts

Chloe Jackson is one lucky girl, somebody loves her and they are pulling out all the stops to tell her so. An airplane flying a banner I LOVE YOU CHLOE JACKSON, her favorite flowers, wine, an invitation to a fancy dinner. When Rip Barnett calls asking “Is there something you want to tell me?” she knows he may be her admirer but he is not the secret admirer sending the gifts. Who would know all her favorite things?

It couldn’t be, could it? It is! Her ex-fiancé has traveled from Chicago into her new neck of the woods for an accountants’ convention. Does he think he can win her back with a few nice gifts? Before she can find out she finds his dead body in the lake right next to her new home! Grasping a picture of her in his hands! Rocked to her core she faints dead away. When she wakes up she tells Deputy Biffle who the man is setting off a quick interrogation leading to Rip becoming Biffle’s prime suspect. Chloe knows she has no choice. She has to track down a killer but the killer may also be tracking her.

I love the characters in this series. Things started out a little prickly between Vivi and Chloe but they are slowly finding their way to owning the Sea Glass Saloon together and even becoming friends. So much so that Vivi has taken quite an interest in Chloe’s private life. Even a dead body doesn’t deter her much. Joaquin and his partner Michael have become true friends to her as well. Even Deputy Biffle is learning to tolerate all her questions even though he may not answer them. I love the relationship between Rip and Chloe, taking things slow and maybe even slower because Chloe’s brothers show up to “protect” her. All these core characters continue to develop at a realistic pace. Vivi and Chloe are still each mourning Boone in their own ways.  Grieving takes time and it is different for every individual. I am so happy the author continues to include that in each story.

It was a real treat to have Kenny and Randy make a surprise visit being urged by their wives and parents. Their deep-dish pizza dinner meeting with Rip was funny and heartwarming. They really love their little sister.

Ms. Harris created a very complex character in her victim. While Perry Franklin was killed off very early in this story his character immerged over the course of the book and he had a whole different side that Chloe never saw. Everyone told her changed after they broke up but she really dodged a bullet when she broke up with him.

The mystery of Perry’s death was a complicated one with several suspects. The accountant’s conference brought several people in from the Windy City. Set in Florida it is only proper that the story is full of a ton of red herrings. Each suspect on Chloe’s list could have motive to have shot Perry dead. How many secrets can one man have? The book has a very brisk pace but I did my best to slow it down to try to catch every clue. Even doing that I was kept guessing right up until the exciting reveal.

Anytime I open a book by Sherry Harris I know I will be delightfully entertained and that my armchair sleuthing skills will be tested. Three Shots in the Wind did just that. What a fun read!

I am very excited for this series to continue. Randy and Kenny have promised to return with their families. That sounds will be like a fantastic good time especially when you mix it with Chloe’s next mystery to solve.
