I could not finish this book. I don't ever remember a book that irritated me more than Watermelon. The characters were boring, the plot was boring and the dialog was non existent. The few good points were not even that spectacular. I won't recommend this book to anyone as it was not that good.

Honestly, I just found this book so boring… I couldn’t wait to finish.
James is an obnoxious, narcissistic arsehole.
Claire is boring and in my opinion… weak.
The characters are not memorable or interesting.
I found myself skipping pages in the hope I would finish quicker.
Chunks of the book seemed so unnecessary… like when you’re trying to add in unnecessary words so your essay is longer!
I will be taking this straight to the charity shop…

If her writing is any reflection of the author I would guess that Keyes is rude and senseless. Her main character, Claire, is so annoying. Babies cry a lot, I get that, but telling them to shut up is uncalled for and she chooses not to nurse the baby because she doesn't want to ruin her breasts. Maybe I missed the joke but that was the type of "humor" laced through this book. There were times when it was a bore to read because of the countless conversations with inanimate objects, her dresses, rings etc. And anyone could guess the very predictable ending. Horrible book!!
