This book is basically a whole bunch of representation of all kinds of religions, relationships. Cultures and sexual orientations, wrapped up in an inspiring story, with beautiful writing!

I'm not going to just sit and wait for things to change anymore.  I'm changing things. I'm doing what I want for once.

It's hard to explain in words how touching this story was for me. Not many books dive into the complexities of being lost in life, or not understanding or even knowing the direction you're going in. More importantly, not many books explain like this one does, that all those complexities and feelings are totally normal and okay to experience. "I Was Born For This" spoke to me on so many levels. I saw a part of me in every single character. Oseman accomplished much more than a written story: She's helped people make peace with their inner struggles, and reminded them that they're heading in the direction that is right for them in life, even if they don't have it all figured out just yet. Because nobody truly knows what they're doing in life, and
"Maybe it just takes seventy years to get the hang of being alive."

Interesting concept, I related a lot as a former (vaguely current) fangirl. I really apprec ated the diverse representation and appreciated that those aspects were not tokenized. However the story itself got much darker than I thought and I was not really prepared for that based on the description. The ending wrapped up much too quickly and would have loved a little more time with the characters, but I like that the author left a hopeful possible future for the main characters.

I was worried about this book when I learned it was about the relationship between a large band and their fandom, but I think it was handled relatively well. I thought the characters were well thought out and developed. I do think the book felt a bit rushed at times, but it is a YA book so that’s partially expected

Cute and interesting YA story that features a member of a boy band and a mega-fan of said band and the unexpected ways that their lives collide. I thought mental-health and LGBTQIA+ issues were dealt with well in this book. Not my favorite of Oseman’s books, but definitely a good, quick read.

I almost DNF'd this book as I had a hard time feeling connected to the main character of Angel in her chapters but enjoyed Jimmy's chapters, which is new for me and an Alice Oseman book to not generally enjoy it. Overall, while it dealt with difficult topics that are important to young adults, it still felt a bit superficial. But it's a decent /easy quick read if that's what you're looking for.
