not sure if the 3 stars where because i love fisher and can't give her less than this or because i love fisher and wanted something more! so it's something between 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 depending on how you are feeling, what you are expecting and how much you remember the previous book; though i am really sure that the third book would be way better (touch wood! cause what jinx it? :))

This sequel to The Obsidian Mirror doesn't work quite as well as it's predecessor. There's more shenanigans with the mirror and split/shifting/uncertain loyalties and some surprises but it doesn't work well as a stand-alone book because it starts in the middle of events and finishes - in the middle of events.
