I love Lem, but even for him, the ratio of exposition to story and the ratio of characters' holding drawn out philosophical conversations based on aimless supposition was extremely high. Couple that with a somewhat disjoint timeline with a sudden, unsatisfying ending and this book didn't work for me as well as I'd hoped. I still enjoyed some of the ideas, but it took ages to read because of the incredible density and the payoff didn't seem worth it.
