A mix of advanced ideas for 1986 and archaic writing where we mostly spend time theorizing and strategizing. Though this is largely the result of the type of unconventional first contact situation Lem came up with.

Definitely a product of the cold war Lem dives deeply into the implications of MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) grand strategy.
