This book doesn’t deserve all the hate it gets and quite frankly, I wish homegirl Sarah would do this for TOG.

Was there no plot? Yeah (outside of Nesta being emo) But the vibes were good. Probably would recommend reading in the christmas time…didn’t hit as hard in the summer.

Overall quite good. Brought me joy. Just no plot so like 4 star.

This was a nice quick break after the heaviness of Wings & Ruin.

I’m excited to get to the last of the series!

That was kinda pointless

Nice little fluffy filler book, but nothing exciting.

This book was a nice, short break from the tension, war, and slaughter that the last book had going on. It was nice to have some lighthearted banter and to see the inner circle come together for Winter Solstice. It was also nice to see Feyre coming back to her creativity and art as an outlet for her mentally. Overall, it was a decent book for what it is.

SPOILERS BEGIN HERE!

There is one major qualm I have with this book. At the beginning of the book, Feyre and Rhysand were talking about how busy they are, how there's so much work to do, how they barely have time for each other, how their house is a mess, how tensions are rising about the wall, and how peace talks are not going well. Feyre LITERALLY says in the beginning of this book that now would not be the right time to try for a child as there is just too much going on. Then, Winter Solstice happens and suddenly she forgets about all of the reasons she didn't want to try for a child, and now she wants a child. Rhys is of course happy and supportive, and the child will be brought into a loving family, but I don't know. It just sat weird with me. Also, Feyre has been concerned the last 3 books that she might become a trophy wife who is only there for good looks and making children. It just seems strange to me that Feyre is now content to possibly become pregnant and responsible for a child in the middle of peace negotiations and a possible conflict with the queens/other greedy courts. Granted, it could take years for them to conceive, which I am hoping is the case.

Other than this, the book was really heartwarming. It was good development of the inner circle's characters and relationships with each other. Also, Feyre's birthday cake having the drawer paintings on it - so SO cute. And I love Elain's new baking hobby.

Another thing I was not so sure about in this book is the switching of perspectives. Don't get me wrong, I like seeing what other characters are thinking and feeling, but the change from a first perspective chapter to a third perspective chapter was sometimes a bit jarring, and I'm wondering why Sarah J. Maas chose to write Mor, Cassian, and Az in third person. This wasn't a huge issue, just different.

All that aside, here are some of my favorite quotes from the book:

"Rhys had stayed with me the entire time, stroking my hair, replacing the heated blankets that I soaked with sweat, even helping me clean myself off." (when we learned about the interesting 2x/year fae cycles)

"'You were born on the longest night of the year.' His fingers again stroked down my back. Lower. 'You were meant to be at my side from the very beginning'"

"I think my heart knew you were mine long before I ever realized it."

"'I love you,' he breathed. 'More than life, more than my territory, more than my crown.'"

"'She survived it, though. Survived you. And you still felt the need to humiliate her, belittle her. If you meant to win her back, old friend, that wasn't the wisest route."

"'I have to create, or it was all for nothing. I have to create, or I will crumple up with despair and never leave my bed. I have to create because I have no other way of voicing this.' Her hand rested on her heart, and my eyes burned. 'It is hard,' the weaver said, her stare never leaving mine, 'and it hurts, but if I were to stop, if I were to let this loom or the spindle go silent ...' She broke my gaze at last to look at her tapestry. 'Then there would be no Hope shining in the Void.'"

"The s*x had destroyed me. Utterly ruined me. Any lingering scrap of my soul that hadn't already belonged to her had unconditionally surrendered last night."

"To the stars who listen, Feyre. I brushed a hand over his cheek to wipe away the last of his tears, his skin warm and soft, and we turned down the street that would lead us home. Toward our future - and all that waited within it. To the dreams that are answered, Rhys."
