3.5 stars. Because who doesn't love a book that leaves them a sobbing mess? Altogether, I found this book less well put together than Tropper's other books, but once again, the sad protagonist somehow finds his way into your heart.

Silver is a down-on-his-luck one-hit-wonder who learned he has a fatal heart condition. Realizing that he has been in a holding pattern for years, he tries to make up for lost time. I enjoyed this book & really liked Silver. The ending was abrupt, but that didn't annoy me. I would definitely recommend this book & I would like to read another Jonathan Tropper novel.
A little bit if poignancy and a lot of humor, this book was a fun read.
Three pages from being over I thought I knew how this would end and I got sad and frustrated. However, when it did end the way I thought it would I was surprisingly not sad or frustrated at all. This is again a perfect example of Tropper's ability to tell a simple day-in-the-life story in a completely beautiful way. People growing and learning, hoping and loving and living, all coming together so when it does end there is no sense of loss or having been cheated out of a proper ending.
Plus, he's pretty effin' funny.

I LOVE trying a 'new to me' author and falling in love with them! I enjoyed everything about this book. His characters are all flawed in their own ways, but you still root for them. I also found a quote in here that I really connected with. While eating an ice-cream cone the main characters ex-wife asks him, "What is it with you and ice-cream cones?" He reply was perfect. "I guess no one ever eats an ice-cream cone at a funeral, or a fire. The Red Cross doesn't drop ice-cream cones into third-world countries. If you're eating an ice-cream cone, it's just very hard to believe that things have gone completely to shit. That there isn't still hope." Maybe this is why I have always loved my ice cream. There is a certain childish security in it. Looking forward to running across another one of Tropper's books at the library. I will definitely be on the lookout!
